Plasma cutting table cutting sheet steel.
Custom Commercial & Industrial

Custom commercial and industrial fabrication

Machine guards, enclosures, hoppers, platforms, and the part that only exists on your drawing. Cut, formed, and welded in Halifax, one-off or repeat run.

What we build

  • Enclosures & cabinets electrical, control, and equipment housings, hinged or bolted
  • Control panel enclosures backplates and cutouts to your layout
  • Machine guards fixed, hinged, or removable, solid or mesh
  • Tanks welded, open-top or closed, mild steel or stainless
  • Hoppers & chutes sloped, flanged, and sized to your discharge
  • Material handling trays, guides, slides, and transfer chutes
  • Brackets & supports pipe, duct, equipment, and cable tray
  • Platforms & heavy-duty steel components frames, stands, skids, and access platforms
  • Safety grating & stair treads cut, framed, and fitted to the opening
  • Perforated & expanded metal screens, vents, infill panels, and guards
  • Prototypes & one-offs first article, proof of fit, or the only one you'll ever need

How we build it

  • Plasma cutting steel to 3/8 inch, stainless and aluminum to 1/4 inch
  • Shearing & forming 10-foot hydraulic shear and press brake, to 1/4 inch
  • TIG & MIG welding steel, stainless, and aluminum to 3/8 inch
  • Integrated solutions engineered custom assemblies and systems

What we fabricate

Most of what comes through this side of the shop has to fit something that's already there. A guard that clears a drive shaft, or an enclosure sized to the panel the electrician mounted last week. A hopper with the discharge where your conveyor is, not where the stock one puts it.

Sheet and plate work, in mild steel, galvanized, stainless, or aluminum:

  • Enclosures, cabinets, and control panel housings, with cutouts to your layout
  • Machine guards, fixed or hinged, in solid sheet, perforated, or expanded metal
  • Tanks, hoppers, and chutes, welded and flanged
  • Brackets, supports, stands, and skids
  • Access platforms, frames, and other heavy-duty steel components
  • Safety grating, stair treads, and infill panels, cut and fitted to the opening

Prototypes and one-offs are normal here, not a favour. So is the piece that has to land between the millwright's conveyor and the electrician's panel, where the dimensions come off the floor and not off a spec sheet.

Behind it is the equipment. A plasma table that cuts steel to 3/8 inch and stainless and aluminum to 1/4 inch, a 10-foot hydraulic shear and press brake for forming, and TIG and MIG welding in steel, stainless, and aluminum to 3/8 inch. When the job is an assembly rather than a part, it gets built and fitted together here, so you're not chasing three suppliers to get one thing to bolt up.

Materials and finishes

Mild steel (black iron) is the default for guards, brackets, frames, and heavy-duty components, from 16 ga sheet up to 1/4-inch plate, with welding in steel, stainless, and aluminum to 3/8 inch. Galvanized where the part lives outside or in a wet plant. Stainless for wash-down, food, and marine environments, brushed or as-formed, and aluminum where weight matters or the part gets lifted all day. Square and round tubing and diamond plate are stocked too.

Put the material and thickness on the drawing if you've settled them. If you haven't, tell us where the part goes and what it has to take, and we'll spec it with you before it's cut.

How to order

Send the drawing if you have one. A PDF, a DXF or DWG, or a marked-up print of the part that's already in place. If all you've got is a sample, bring it in and we'll measure it.

Tell us how many, the material if you've chosen it, and where the part is going. You'll get a price back, worked up on our in-house rates. Then it gets cut, formed, and welded here.

Industries we build this for

Port and terminal work brings the heavy-duty guards, covers, and plates. Defence and aerospace bring short-run and prototype brackets, enclosures, and panels. Railings, fixtures, kitchen stainless, and marine fittings mostly run through Metal Fabrication.
